We use different types of material to ensure the tightness of technical installations. The first one is rubber. It can be natural rubber (NR), obtained through the processing of latex secreted by certain plants such as the rubber tree (hevea brasiliensis). We however mainly use a synthetic material derived from fossil hydrocarbons. Rubber belongs to the family of elastomers.
Synthetic (or artificial) rubbers are a type of elastomer that are invariably referred to as polymers, because they are made up of a macromolecule formed from linked monomer units. An elastomer has better elastic deformation under stress than most materials and returns to its original shape without any permanent deformation. Its first use was in the manufacture of tyres, but it has long been used in a wide range of industrial applications.
Sealing can also be ensured by using gaskets made from many other materials: cardboard, Teflon, graphite, metal, etc. Loiseau Industries’ main area of expertise is to be able to advise its customers precisely on the type of material to adopt according to the intended use.
And when sealing requires the creation of special, sometimes non-standard, gaskets, Loiseau Industries is able to machine and offer custom-made gaskets in suitable materials.
